Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

At Pop In Beauty Bar we look after your personal information with the same care we give you in the treatment room. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we keep it safe and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Pop In Beauty Bar is a beauty salon at 152b St Francis Drive, St Francis Bay, 6312, Eastern Cape, South Africa. We are the “responsible party” for the personal information described here.

Information Officer: the owner of Pop In Beauty Bar
Email: popin.sfb@gmail.com
Phone / WhatsApp: 081 022 0052

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to look after you:

  • Contact details – your name, phone number, WhatsApp number and email address when you book, ask a question or buy from us.
  • Booking details – the treatments you book, dates and times, and any notes you give us.
  • Treatment and skin information – for some treatments we ask about your skin, allergies, sensitivities, medication or pregnancy, so that we can treat you safely. Some of this is health information, which POPIA treats as special personal information. We only collect it with your consent and only use it for your care.
  • Order details – when you buy from our online shop: your name, delivery address, phone number, email address, the products you order and proof of payment. We do not see or store your bank card details.
  • Website information – when you visit our website we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, the pages you view and the buttons you click. See section 6 on cookies.

3. Why we use your information

  • To book, confirm, change and remind you about appointments.
  • To give you safe, suitable treatments and skincare advice.
  • To process, deliver and support your online orders, including returns and refunds.
  • To reply to your messages, calls and emails.
  • To send you news and specials, but only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
  • To understand how our website is used so that we can improve it and our advertising.
  • To keep our website secure and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run the salon, and only as much as they need:

  • our website host and the plugins that run our website and online shop;
  • WhatsApp, email and online booking services we use to talk to you and manage appointments;
  • courier companies that deliver your orders;
  • our bank, for payments and refunds;
  • Google (Google Analytics and Google Search Console) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram, including the Meta pixel) for website statistics and advertising – see section 6;
  • our accountant, and authorities where the law requires it.

Lamelle products: Lamelle orders are placed on the official Skin Confidence (Lamelle) storefront, not on our website. Skin Confidence handles the personal information for those orders under its own privacy policy.

5. Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, such as Google, Meta and WhatsApp, store information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to POPIA.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored in your browser. We use:

  • Essential cookies – to run the online shop basket and checkout and to keep the website secure.
  • Google Analytics – to count visits and see which pages and buttons (such as Book Now, WhatsApp, phone and email) are used. This helps us improve the website.
  • Meta pixel – to measure how well our Facebook and Instagram adverts work and to show relevant adverts to people who have visited our website.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) and manage Facebook advert preferences in your Facebook settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the shop may not work.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law requires. For example, order and payment records are kept for five years for tax purposes. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

8. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and practical measures to keep your information safe, including a secure (HTTPS) website, security software, password-protected accounts and limited access to client records. If we ever learn of a security breach affecting your information, we will let you and the Information Regulator know as POPIA requires.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct or update it;
  • ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
  • object to us using it, and withdraw consent you have given;
  • stop receiving marketing messages at any time.

Contact us on popin.sfb@gmail.com or 081 022 0052. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

10. Children

Our website and online shop are meant for adults. We only treat or collect information about anyone under 18 with the consent of a parent or guardian.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please talk to us first and we will do our best to put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator:
